Although ITSMS-ISO 20000-1:2011 equally supports other IT service management framework but it was originally developed to reflect the best practice guidance contained in ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) framework.

Information Technology Services Management System (ITSMS) is the ISO 20000-1:2011 standard which focuses on the delivery system of services for IT sector. The System is based on PDCA and consist the systematic flow of the Information and security, safety and prevention from threats and Risks. The requirements include the design, transition, delivery and improvement of services to fulfill agreed service requirements. The standard ensures companies can achieve evidence-based benchmarks to continuously improve their delivery of IT services.

The standard is for the organizations who provide IT services such as software development, IT infrastructure and/or applications support, this can be both for external delivery

To clients who have outsourced their IT support

As well as for internal IT groups

Implementation of this standard provides confidence to the customer about the delivering capability through use of IT infrastructure.

ISO 17021-1:2015 - Conformity assessment —Requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of management systems.
